Check in all the way
Are you travelling further to another airport, we make sure that your luggage arrives to the final destination - that is if you are travelling with SAS/Icelandair or if you have purchased a ticket with a connection flight through Icelandair or a travel agency. All passengers may have cabin baggage with maximum dimensions of 55 x 40 x 23 cm and with a total weight of 8 kg.
Travellers on economy class may take one item with them, whilst travellers on business class may take 2 items of cabin baggage provided that the total weight does not exceed 8 kg.
In addition, passengers may also bring tax-free goods. If the amount of cabin baggage is too much in relation to capacity, we reserve the right to stow some of this baggage in the hold.
NB: Always keep any medicine in your cabin baggage so that it’s available to you even if your checked-in baggage is delayed. Make sure that you’re aware of the restrictions on liquids and creams in your cabin baggage.

We weigh your baggage when you check in. Each individual item of baggage may not weigh more than 20 kg in economy class and 30 kg on business class. If your baggage weighs too much, you’ll have to pay a surcharge per extra kilo for each leg of the trip.
If there are several of you travelling together, problems with excess baggage can sometimes be dealt with by redistributing the contents of your baggage. Alternatively, part of your baggage can be sent as freight, where the weight limits are different.
A good tip in advance
Take a photo of all your baggage. This will be useful if your baggage is damaged or does not reach your destination on time.
Children and baggage
Children under the age of 2 are entitled to have 10 kg of baggage and 1 collapsible pushchair. The sum of the length + width + height may not exceed 158 cm per item of checked baggage.
Air Greenland does not accept any liability for fragile or perishable items or goods such as musical instruments, rifles or computers.
Your baggage is labelled with your arrival airport, and you’ll be given a baggage tag which will be stuck to your itinerary. You have to use this as identification of your baggage should an error occur or if your baggage is delayed or lost. You’ll also need it if you wish to make a claim to your insurance company.
Leave it at home
Check this list and see which items may not be stowed in the hold. Note, in particular, that it’s illegal to put lighters into any baggage that you check in.
For the sake of their health
The personnel who load baggage onto the plane may not lift more than 30 kg at a time. If you have more than 30 kg, we kindly ask you to split it between two or more pieces of luggage.
Excess baggage of more than 75 kg
Booking transport of extra heavy baggage of more than 75 kg must be arranged with the travel agency in plenty of time prior to your flight. If you’ve booked your flight with us, you must contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Please specify the weight in kilos, items and dimensions. Make sure you do so well in advance. Each plane and helicopter has a different capacity. You’ll receive a bill along with your confirmation.
Cancellations that are eligible for a refund can take place up to two days before your scheduled flight. We do, however, charge a handling fee and an amount per planned day of travel. If you cancel your flight at a later point in time, the amount paid will not be refunded.
Excess baggage less than 75 kg
Excess baggage less than 75 kg cannot be booked in advance. Unfortunately, we’re only able to confirm whether you can take excess baggage with you when you present it at check-in on the day of departure.
