It is recommended that a healthy new-born baby is at least seven days old before travelling on a flight. If you are in any doubt, please refer to your hospital or your GP.
For children who have not yet celebrated their second birthday, 10% of the cost of the adult fare, excluding taxes and fees, must be paid, although a seat will not actually be allocated to the child. The child must therefore sit on the lap of the adult who is accompanying it. This adult must be at least 15 years old. A safety belt and life jacket will be provided for the child.
It is only possible to book a ticket online for one child of less than 2 years of age per travelling adult. If you need to travel with two children of less than 2 years of age, you can either book your flight at our offices, your travel agency or via the Call Centre on tel. (+299) 34 34 34.
In order for an adult to be able to travel with two infants, the following conditions must be satisfied: One of the infants must pay the same fare as for a child below the age of 12 and this infant must be able to sit on an aircraft seat or in a child safety seat which can be fitted onto the aircraft seat. The child safety seat must be provided by the traveller and must not exceed the seat’s dimensions of 65 cm (length and width) and height of 45 cm.
If the child is aged less than 2 years and you pay a full child fare, you may bring an approved child safety seat for your child to fit onto the adjacent seat. The child safety seat may face either backwards or forwards. The child safety seat must not exceed the dimensions of the aircraft seat.
Children aged between 2 and 11 (i.e. not yet having celebrated their 12th birthday) qualify for a 50% discount on the adult fare, excluding taxes and fees, and will have a seat allocated to them.
Flights for unaccompanied children cannot be purchased online, but only through our offices at airports, your travel agency or at the Call Centre on tel. (+299) 34 34 34.
An unaccompanied child is defined as a child from the age of 5 up to and including 11 years of age who is travelling alone. Children under the age of 5 may not travel alone. When purchasing a flight, you must state the name, address and telephone number of the person(s) accompanying the child to the point of departure and of the person(s) who will be collecting the child.
In the case of journeys which involve changing aircraft/helicopter, you must also state the name, address and telephone number of a contact in the town in question. The contact can be omitted, however, in the event that the change of aircraft/helicopter is due to take place in Kangerlussuaq, as we have a child care facility for unaccompanied children at this airport.
The person who accompanies the child to the point of departure must remain at the airport/heliport until the aircraft/helicopter has taken off.
An additional charge is imposed for unaccompanied children.
For reasons of safety, we can only carry a limited number of unaccompanied children per departure.

When flying with our Airbus, which typically flies between Kangerlussuaq and Copenhagen, it is possible to book a carrycot for infants. The child must be less than 10 months old on the date of departure and must not weigh more than 11 kg or exceed 65 cm in length.
The carrycot cannot be booked online, but can be booked no later than 24 hours prior to departure by contacting one of our offices, your travel agency or the Call Centre on tel. (+299) 34 34 34. A carrycot is of course a free service on Air Greenland, but due to the design of the aircraft it is only available on economy class and only in limited numbers.
It is a requirement that your pram is securely packed in a protective bag designed for prams or in another form of packaging. The protective bag can be purchased at all airports in Greenland and costs DKK 50.00. If you are travelling from Copenhagen Airport, you can purchase a protective bag at the airport cloakroom, which is located at Terminal 2.
Fully collapsible pushchairs can be used to carry your child all the way out to the aircraft. The pushchair must be fitted with a baggage/identity label at check-in and then be vacated ready for loading immediately prior to boarding the aircraft.
When flying between Greenland and Denmark you can order a special baby’s/children’s menu no later than 24 hours prior to departure. If you book your flight online, you can order this menu at the same time as you make your booking.
Cartoons are shown on all flights between Greenland and Denmark, whilst there is always an option of listening to either music or stories for children. On all flights a few toys are provided for our youngest passengers shortly after take-off, but you are of course also welcome to bring your child’s favourite toys and teddy bear with you.
There is a changing table in at least one of the toilets on board all our aircraft between Greenland and Denmark.
Children below the age of 12 who are flying business class may have up to 30 kg of baggage, whilst children flying economy class may have up to 20 kg of baggage.
On flights that require an overnight stop en route, however, children in business class may only have up to 20 kg of baggage.
For infants of less than 2 years of age, 10 kg of baggage including a pram may be brought. If the total weight of this baggage exceeds 10 kg, a charge will be incurred for the excess weight.
Children between the ages of 2-11 are permitted to take one item of cabin baggage with max. dimensions of 50 x 40 x 23 cm and a max. weight of 8 kg onboard, in addition to their checked-in baggage.
A carrycot and changing bag can be carried onboard for children between 0-2 years of age.
Children are of course also welcome onboard Air Greenland flights, both when travelling with their parents and when travelling alone. You can read our terms and conditions of carriage here, as well as important information and good advice that will help to ensure that you and your children enjoy a pleasant journey.
