Air Greenland opens summer-route to Canada
Already from this coming summer, it will be possible once again to fly non-stop between Greenland and Canada. Air Greenland is planning to open a seasonal route between Nuuk and Iqaluit for 11 weeks, from June 18th till September 3rd, with bi-weekly flights Monday and Friday. In time, Air Greenland is considering prolonging the season, providing that there is sufficient demand.
We see opportunities in a market consisting first and foremost of business passengers from the field of oil and mineral research, which is largely based in North America. Accordingly we have designed the schedule for the new route to ensure same-day connections to a large number of destinations in Canada, for example Ottawa, Vancouver, St. Johns and Goose Bay, Air Greenland’s Commercial Director, Christian Keldsen, explains.
Keldsen emphasizes that the route is well suited to travellers from both Greenland and Canada who are looking for minimal travel time between the two countries, for example only 6 hours from Nuuk to Ottawa.
The flights between Nuuk and Iqaluit will be carried out with a DASH-8 seating 34 passengers. Flying time is 1 hour and 45 minutes and the price of a one-way ticket Nuuk-Iqaluit will be approx. DKK 4.300.
