Air Greenland flies today Saturday
Air Greenland's Airbus 330 Norsaq flew out of Copenhagen this morning with passengers to Greenland. Travelers from Copenhagen who have not yet been contacted by Air Greenland can expect to be booked on GL 1781 Sunday. These passengers and domestic passengers and travelers on GL 1782 from Kangerlussuaq to Copenhagen on Sunday will be contacted Saturday.
The domestic flight program is set up and large parts expected to be completed on schedule. We ask our passengers to stay updated through our website or teletext.
Yesterday, we experienced a faint smell of smoke in one of our Dash 8’s. It turns out that need a new so-called air data computer and it means that the company currently has a Dash 8 less to operate flights with. This affects the departures GL 1544 between Nuuk and Kangerlussuaq and the flights to and from Iceland, GL 710 and GL 711. Passengers from Nuuk to Kangerlussuaq on GL 1544 with connection to Denmark will be rebooked and will not arrive in Denmark before Sunday. Some are rebooked for today and will spend the night in Kangerlussuaq, while others fly to Kangerlussuaq tomorrow morning and then on to Denmark.
The Iceland flights are not operated today. Air Greenland is working on hiring a plane for this and hope to operate the flights tomorrow Sunday. Passengers will be contacted.
There are still remnants of the ash cloud over Uummannaq and Upernavik, so on trips north of Disko Bay we are awaiting the situation.
It is important to mention that some passengers will experience long waiting hours in Kangerlussuaq. Additionally, a few travelers will not arrive at their final destination on Saturday, but must expect an overnight stay in Kangerlussuaq. Passengers who must stay overnight in Kangerlussuaq have already been informed. Also, the company has had to make certain operational calls, which means that the priorities according to booking order cannot be followed fully.
We wish to point out that the decision to operate flights on Sunday 29th May is taken in light of current forecasts.
We are now extending the opening hours of your call centers:
