Air Greenland has entered into a co-operation agreement with Maniitsoq Tour Boats to sail passengers between Maniitsoq and Nuuk twice a week in addition to the already six weekly flights.
In connection with Nuuk Airport's role as a hub for international flights, the timetable has been improved for all of Greenland - from North to South and East. The new timetable ensures better same-day connections between the regions and international flights from Nuuk.
After the commissioning of the international airport, the number of flights to Maniitsoq was reduced in the revised timetable. Therefore, this cooperation is important news for everyone travelling to and from Maniitsoq and for the business community in particular.
Air Greenland's Net Revenue Manager, Tomas Leth-Jørgensen, is pleased that the agreement with the boat operator has been successfully concluded.
- There have been a number of enquiries from Maniitsoq, both from the business community and tour operators, who have requested more departures to and from Maniitsoq. We already have similar agreements with boat operators in both South and East Greenland, which provides a better robustness in our timetable - as these are also used as backup when it is not possible to fly, says Tomas Leth-Jørgensen and continues:
- We are pleased that we have managed to fulfil the request for more departures between Maniitsoq and Nuuk with the cooperation agreement with Maniitsoq Tour Boat.

Good maiden voyage
As mentioned in the introduction, Maniitsoq Tour Boats operates the two weekly boat departures for Air Greenland with a Targa 37 to supplement the existing weekly flights between Nuuk and Maniitsoq.
In addition to this, an agreement has also been signed with Greenland Escape for bus services between the airport and the Tidal Steps in Nuuk.
On Sunday 27 April, Maniitsoq Tour Boat completed its first scheduled sailing with GL number 7741 from Maniitsoq to Nuuk and GL 7741 on the return trip, which went according to plan. For Maniitsoq Tour Boat, it is also a significant task that they are excited to follow throughout the season.
Air Greenland's Safety department, in collaboration with Maniitsoq Tour Boat, has conducted an audit of the boat and verified that the boat complies with current legislation.
