Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Uummannaq – Welcome to the Heart of Northern Greenland
Your journey begins with a flight from Nuuk to Uummannaq – one of Greenland’s most iconic and picturesque towns, dramatically located at the foot of the heart-shaped mountain that gave the town its name. Even during the approach, you’ll get a preview of what awaits: icebergs, glaciers, fjords, and world-class mountain landscapes.
Upon arrival, you’ll be met at the airport and transferred to Avani, where you can settle in and enjoy the view over the fjord. After a relaxing afternoon and perhaps a walk through town, a special experience awaits: a Midnight Sun Tour in Uummannaq Fjord. In the late evening hours, you’ll sail through the fjord where the sun refuses to set. The sky glows in golden and pink hues, and icebergs shimmer in the soft light. Along the way, we’ll keep an eye out for whales, seals, and seabirds – all in an atmosphere of Arctic calm and beauty.

Day 2: Maarmorilik – Geology, Industry & Mountain Landscapes
After breakfast, the journey continues on the fjord – this time westward to the former mining town of Maarmorilik, also known as “The Black Angel.” The tour begins with a stop at an even older marble quarry, where Greenland’s industrial history began. From here, you’ll sail on to Maarmorilik, where marble extraction in the 1930s was followed by mining for zinc, lead, and silver.
On the opposite side of the fjord, you’ll see the remains of the spectacular cableway that led up to the mine entrance at 750 meters altitude – a technical marvel in the rugged Greenlandic mountain landscape. This tour is both a journey through nature’s forces and humanity’s determination to extract riches in the harsh north. Along the way, you’ll pass glaciers, stunning mountains, and perhaps even spot a humpback whale.
Back in Uummannaq, the rest of the day is yours to enjoy. Relax with a book, take in the view from your terrace, or go for a quiet walk in town.

Day 3: Departure – With Light and Landscapes in Your Luggage
After breakfast, you’ll be picked up and transferred to the airport. From here, you’ll fly back to Nuuk – with a camera full of icebergs, fjords, and midnight sun, and a heart filled with Arctic impressions.
