Air Greenland and KAK sign a partnership agreement
Air Greenland and Kalaallit Arsaattartut Kattuffiat (KAK) have entered into a three-year partnership agreement aimed at strengthening the framework for Greenland’s national football and futsal teams.
The agreement includes discounted travel arrangements, helping enable the national teams to gather and take part in international activities. At the same time, the support is targeted at the national team programme, helping to ensure that KAK can continue to prioritise broad-based work with clubs and football development across Greenland.
The partnership takes effect on 1 July 2026 and runs until the end of 2029. It covers both futsal and 11-a-side football for women’s and men’s national teams at youth and senior level.

KAK describes the agreement as a historic step for the association:
“The partnership with Air Greenland aligns closely with KAK’s new strategy to unite Greenland through sport. With this support, our national teams will have better opportunities to gather, play matches and represent Greenland. At the same time, the fact that the agreement is targeted at the national teams creates new opportunities. It allows us to free up funds to strengthen the development of football and futsal more broadly across the country through the work of the clubs. It also brings us closer to the ambition of hosting home matches in Greenland and helps strengthen interest in the sport across the country,” says Kenneth Kleist, Chair of KAK.
Jacob Nitter Sørensen, Chief Executive of Air Greenland, and Kenneth Kleist, Chair of Kalaallit Arsaattartut Kattuffiat, sign the partnership agreement.
For Air Greenland, the partnership is linked to the company’s role as a transport provider:
“As Greenland’s national airline, our role is to connect the country through transport. Through this partnership, we are making a concrete contribution by supporting the national teams’ ability to gather, while the sporting development remains anchored in KAK and the club environments,” says Jacob Nitter Sørensen, CEO of the Air Greenland Group.
The agreement has a total value of up to DKK 3 million, of which the first DKK 2 million has been confirmed for the period 2026–2028, while an extension in 2029 of up to DKK 1 million is conditional on home matches being held in Greenland.
