In Greenland: Check-in must be completed at least 1 hour prior to departure. In Denmark: We recommend that you’re ready for check-in 2 hours before departure, as check-in closes 1 hour prior to take-off. OBS!: To minimize the risk of spreading Covid-19, our stations at the airports will no longer accept payment with cash from 18 October 2021. This means that you can no longer pay your overweight luggage that exceeds 20 kg or buy merchandise at the stations in Greenland and Denmark with cash. We continue to accept credit cards and contactless mobile payments, such as Apple Pay.
Traveling from Greenland:
- Web and Mobile Check-In is possible from 22 hours before your scheduled departure.
- If you are traveling to Denmark and have a Standard Flex, Premium, or Premium Flex ticket, you must have checked in your luggage at the airport no later than 30 minutes before departure.

Travelling from Denmark:
- You must check your luggage at Copenhagen Airport at least 1 hour before departure. However, we always recommend that you show up at the airport 2 hours before departure, as security checks and the walk to the gate can take a long time.
- If you only bring a ‘carry on bag’, you can wait to arrive at the airport until 30 minutes before departure. However, keep in mind that you still need to have checked in 1 hour before departure. We would like to point out that there may be a long queue at the security check and therefore recommend that you show up well in advance.
- If you are traveling from Copenhagen, you can save time by using the self-service check-in machines and deliver your luggage at "behind the drop".

If you wish to travel to Greenland, you should inquire whether you will need a visa. In the affirmative, make sure to file an application in due time. There are different rules for residents of Schengen-countries, and when traveling via Copenhagen you may need a visa for Denmark as well.

Important to be in good time
Always arrive in plenty of time – and allow yourself even more time during the holiday season! If check-in hasn’t been completed 1 hour prior to the scheduled departure time, you may be refused entry at the desk, as a result of which your flight ticket will no longer be valid and can’t be changed to another departure. Your ticket can’t be refunded, although any taxes will be reimbursed.
For your own safety
The reason why check-in must be completed at least one hour prior to departure is that Air Greenland’s personnel need time to scan all baggage for security reasons and to sort the baggage according to destination and then transfer the baggage out to the aircraft. The weight of baggage also determines how heavily the aircraft is fuelled.
