Qeqertarsuaq is an island in Disko Bay that offers great hiking opportunities and unique scenery, surrounded by icebergs and colorful flowers.
One of the main signs in Qeqertarsuaq is the huge red-isch mountains formed by volcanic eruptions for million years ago.
It has also incredible black beach with volcanic origin and basalt columns as a geological nature monument.
Nature of Qeqetarsuaq
Qeqertarsuaq has a rich flora in summer, most of the flora you can find will be in Qeqertarsuaq. Hot springs gives warmth and give the floras a nice blossom during the summer, one of them is an Angelica flower that get collected in summer by local people.
Whales outside of town
It is easy to see whales in Qeqertarsuaq especially in summer, while walking around town or just watching from the window you can see them and hear the whale blowing.

If you love history, please visit museum and explorer old houses around the town.
You can go hiking by using a hiking map and explore the spectacular nature. Otherwise, you can book a local guide and have a company ang get to know the history.
Summer and Winter in Qeqertarsuaq
In summer there is a lot to do in Qeqertarsuaq, you can take a boat tour to Kuannit and do not miss out to go on whale safari by boat. In winter you will have opportunity to see the magnificent northern light and experience dog sledding.
Qeqertarsuaq Race:
There is a 3-day trail running race in Qeqertarsuaq every summer, where many people come to Qeqertarsuaq participate. Participant overnight in their own tents during the race. The race is approximately 50 km.
Qeqertarsuaq Festival:
There is also a music festival in Qeqertarsuaq also in summer in two days. Popular Greenlandic musicians come to Qeqertarsuaq and play.

Tasiusaq (Upernavik)
The northernmost of the two settlements, which is called Tasiusaq, is found 71 kilometres north of Upernavik in the Municipality of Qaasuitsup. Here there's a Pilersuisoq grocery store and even a kiosk, fish factory and a church.
Tiniteqilaaq
Tiniteqilaaq is one of the five settlements in the area around the island of Ammassalik. The settlement is located on the other side of the Ikasativaq Fjord, north of Ammassalik Island and facing onto Sermilik, which is one of the great ice fjords in East Greenland.
Upernavik Kujalleq
Upernavik Kujalleq, which was earlier known in Danish as 'Søndre Upernavik', is the southernmost settlement in the archipelago around Upernavik.
